Sunquest Signs Named an ecoBiz 1-Star Partner for Energy

Sunquest Signs has officially achieved ecoBiz 1-Star Partner status for energy, awarded by Business Chamber Queensland's ecoBiz program.

To reach Star Partner status, a business must demonstrate at least a 10% reduction in resource intensity. The recognition is benchmarked, not self-declared: ecoBiz measures how much energy, waste and cost sit behind each unit of work a business produces, then compares it against a baseline year.
The numbers
Compared with our 2021-22 baseline year, Sunquest Signs has:
- Increased business productivity by 45%
- Reduced energy intensity by 22.3%
- Reduced energy cost per unit of productivity by 12.4%
- Reduced waste intensity by 9.3%
Put simply, the business has grown a lot, and each sign we produce now takes less energy and creates less waste than it did three years ago.
How we got here
There was no single fix. The result comes from habits across the whole team at our Warana facility: switching off equipment when it is not needed, using materials thoughtfully, separating waste properly and finding more efficient ways of working, job after job.
Some of the longer-standing practices behind the numbers include energy-efficient LED lighting throughout our offices and factory, recycling our digital printing inks and cartridges, recycling metal, backing papers, packaging and plastics from sign production, and reusing raw material off-cuts wherever possible. The full list is on our sustainability page.
Why it matters for our clients
Plenty of businesses talk about sustainability. Third-party measurement is harder to come by. For clients who need to account for their supply chain, particularly government organisations, builders, developers and national brands, this recognition provides an independently benchmarked data point: signage produced by a partner that is measurably reducing its environmental impact relative to output.
What comes next
Fuel currently represents 85% of our energy use, so reducing fuel consumption across our fleet is the next focus. We also want to improve our waste results and work towards Star Partner status for waste.
This recognition belongs to the whole Sunquest team. Every switched-off machine and every sorted offcut added up to something we can prove.
